Riksföreningen för Handvävning
The National Association of Handweavers
The (Swedish) National Association of Handweavers is a non-profit organization for everyone interested in weaving. Our primary purpose is to preserve and enrich handweaving traditions.
The National Association is comprised of 17 regions, spread across the entire country. Membership in a regional association includes membership in the national association. Through the "Solvögat" (The eye of the heddle, comment of the translator), our magazine, published quarterly, we inform each other about our activities both national and regional.
The National Association stimulates contact between weavers throughout the country. Welcome to the association are both professional weavers as well as those for whom weaving is a hobby, both young and old.
Most of our activities are at the regional level. The national association arranges courses/workshops and trips for the entire association. We work with a theme which is current for two years at a time. The theme culminates in an exhibit which is on display at our annual meeting. This meeting is accompanied by various other exhibits, workshops and outings. These are usually attended by about 100 of our members.
The remainder of this website contains information about our association and activities in Swedish.
